UNITY DANCERS TELL STORY OF CREATION

- STAFF REPORT Compiled by Susan Pierce.

Unity Dance Troupe of Cleveland, Tennessee, is marking its 10th anniversary as a professional company whose mission is to use dance as a way of sharing the gospel.

The troupe is preparing for its tour of “The Veil: Story of Creation,” which will stop in Charleston, South Carolina, Shreveport, Louisiana, and Bogota,

Colombia.

But first, Unity’s season will launch with performances in Lee University’s Conn Center on Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 22-23. This marks Unity’s eighth season to present “The Veil,” which depicts the creation of the world, the fall of man and redemption through grace.

The cast of 50 dancers includes William Moore as Adam and Allison Barnes as Eve, both in their third seasons playing those roles. Other principal dancers are Kara Sutherland as Archangel Gabriel, Kyle Gazak dancing the Guardian Angel and Anna Thompson as Archangel Michael.

The Spirit of God will be played by Unity’s director, Alexis Burleson, who also choreographed the performance.

The Broadway-style production will delight adults and children alike with its dance as well as the theatrics, original sets, costumes and unique artistic effects incorporated into the production.

Free general-admission seating is offered in the balcony the day of the show. The downstairs of Conn Center is reserved seating ranging in price from $10 to $30. Tickets may be reserved online in advance at www.unitydancetroupe.com/tickets.
