1 Earle received the 2011 Americana Music Award for Song of the Year for “Harlem River Blues.” 2 The Nashville native is now based in New York’s East Village. 3 In 2010, he spoke to the Wall Street Journal about his drug and alcohol abuse and the bar fight that led to a night in jail.

4 According to Earle’s website, his influences range from Randy Newman to Woody Guthrie, Chet Baker to the Replacemen­ts, and Phil Ochs to Bruce Springstee­n.

5 He released his latest record, “Nothing’s Gonna Change the Way You Feel About Me,” in March.

1 Snider, a Portland, Ore. native, is based in East Nashville. 2 His album, “Agnostic Hymns & Stoner Fables,” is described on his website as “jagged, leering, lurching and howling, and filled with unhappy endings both experience­d and intimated.”

3 He has released 14 albums since 1994.

4 In April, he told Rolling Stone magazine: “I smoke more dope before 9 a.m. than most people do in a whole day.”

5 His musical style has been described as a combinatio­n of alt-country, Americana and folkrock.
