Mary Shoupe

SPARTANBUR­G, S. C. — Mary Jackson Shoupe, 85, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at her home.

Born May 14, 1927, in Hixson, she was the wife, for 61 years, of Robert L. “Bob” Shoupe and daughter of the late Fred Jackson Sr. and Sallie Ashley Jackson.

Mrs. Shoupe retired as administra­tive assistant from the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind after 18 years of service. She was a member of Morningsid­e Baptist Church, a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class, the Women’s Missionary Union, and taught children’s Sunday school for several years. In addition, she was a member of the S.C. State Employees Associatio­n, a volunteer for Mobile Meals Service, FACT, Total Ministries, Welcome Baby Organizati­on, ministered to homebound church members, and was a past board member of Mountain View Nursing Home. She was formerly employed with Miller- Morgan attorneys and Spartanbur­g General Hospital.

Surviving are her son, Gary Lee Shoupe of Spartanbur­g, S.C.; daughter, Connie Shoupe Eaton (Charles), of Pauline, S.C.; grandchild­ren, Susan Moulder (Brian), of Anderson, S.C., and Daniel Eaton, of Inman, S.C.; great- grandchild­ren, Larsen Moulder and Rayna Moulder, of Anderson, S.C.; sister, Martha Jackson Carter, of Hixson; brother, Stanley A. Jackson, of Hixson; sister-in-law, Jean Shoupe of Griffin, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. She was predecease­d by five brothers.

Visitation will be 1: 30-2: 45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, in the sanctuary at Morningsid­e Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely.

Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morningsid­e Baptist Church Children’s Ministry, 897 S. Pine St., Spartanbur­g, SC 29307.
