SPRING CITY — Mary Sue Fischesser Garrison passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at her home.

She was a lifetime resident of Spring City, Tenn. Mary Sue was a graduate of Spring City High School, Class of 1962, Tennessee Technologi­cal University and The University of West Georgia. She retired from the Rhea County Department of Education after 33 years as a teacher and administra­tor.

Mary Sue was a member of the Spring City First Baptist Church where she sang in the Choir and was a member of the Hannah Sunday School Class. She served in many capacities of the church.

Mary Sue served one year as a Commission­er of The Town of Spring City and eight years as Mayor of The Town of Spring City. She helped to create The Spring City Historical Museum and was instrument­al in the building of the “Splash Pad” for the children of Spring City.

Mary Sue was preceded in death by her husband, James J. “Jim” Garrison; her parents, Eugene and Laura Hill Fischesser; brother, Donald Ray Hill; and infant nephew, David Hill.

Survived by her son, James A. “Jim” ( Penny) Ewing II, Rock Spring, GA.; her daughter, Amy Garrison ( Brian) Hager, Chattanoog­a; sister, Janet (Jimmy) Simpson, Spring City; brother, Terry Fischesser, Spring City; nieces, Tina (Mike) Ladd and Kelly Malone; great- nieces and nephews, Lauren, Grant and Carson Ladd, Grace Malone; sister-in-law, Jackie Wassom Hill, Chattanoog­a.

She is also survived by her very beloved companion fur-baby, Casper.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of Spring City with Rev. Brian Price officiatin­g.

Interment will follow in the Spring City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-3:30 p.m. at the church.
