Ruth Lackey Kennedy, 98, of Chattanoog­a, our beloved mother, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at a local health care facility.

Born on July 5, 1917, she was a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church and her faith in God was inspiring to those around her. Ruth loved her family more than anything. Every Wednesday her daughters and grandchild­ren would join her for a special lunch at Southern Oaks, where she resided. Ruth was especially passionate about her three great-grandchild­ren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil E. Lackey; parents, Emmet and Audie Taylor; and her sister, Christine Hughes.

Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Janice (Gary) Harbison and Phyllis Noles; grandchild­ren, Kelly (Amy) Harbison, Linsay ( Kenny) Petitt and Patrick Noles; great-grandchild­ren, Cameron, William and Wesley Harbison; several cousins and a niece.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2016, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chris Hansen conducting the service.

Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
