Ruth Kennedy

Ruth Lackey Kennedy, 98, of Chattanooga, our beloved mother, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at a local health care facility.

Born on July 5, 1917, she was a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church and her faith in God was inspiring to those around her. Ruth loved her family more than anything. Every Wednesday her daughters and grandchildren would join her for a special lunch at Southern Oaks, where she resided. Ruth was especially passionate about her three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil E. Lackey; parents, Emmet and Audie Taylor; and her sister, Christine Hughes.

Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Janice (Gary) Harbison and Phyllis Noles; grandchildren, Kelly (Amy) Harbison, Linsay ( Kenny) Petitt and Patrick Noles; great-grandchildren, Cameron, William and Wesley Harbison; several cousins and a niece.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2016, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chris Hansen conducting the service.

Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
