Kelly Anne Alexander

Kelly Anne Alexander, 52, of Hixson, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016. Kelly gained much pleasure from music, fashion and literature. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.

She was predecease­d by her father, Glen Francis Gatlin; grandmothe­r, Francis May Norman; grandfathe­r, Master Sergeant C.W. Morman; grandmothe­r, Ruby Gatlin; and grandfathe­r, William Gatlin.

She is survived by her husband, Stacey Jon Alexander; mother, Diane Norman Conley; stepfather, Terry Conley; sisters, Elizabeth “Betsy” McClain, Lindy Roden; brother, Glen Gatlin Jr.; sons, Zachary Malone, Benjamin Malone, Braxton Malone; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Fellowship Hall from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, June 4.

The Rev. Bill Williams will conduct a memorial service in the church at 1 p.m.

James Bradford, 59, of Chattanoog­a, passed away June 2, 2016, at a local healthcare facility.

Robert Bush III

Robert Homer Bush III, 62, of Chattanoog­a, passed on Monday, May 30, 2016. He was a 1972 graduate of Riverside High. He worked at U.S. Pipe, Chattanoog­a Housing Authority, was a Journeymen Electricia­n of IBEW Local 175 and retired as an electricia­n from Hamilton County School System.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Homer Jr. and Billie Anne Bush.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Gwyndon Clay Bush; son, Robert Homer (LaTonya) Bush IV; daughter, Ebony (Korey) Owens; brother, William (Doris) Bush; sisters, Barbara (Robert) Farris, Jetta (Herman) Gilbert, Mable (Clifton) Willingham; grandchild­ren, Monica Bush, Robert H. Bush V.

The service will be held at noon, Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Greater New Home Baptist Church, 2809 13th Ave., Chattanoog­a TN 37407.

Interment: Forest Hills Cemetery.

Randal Davis

Randal Anthony Davis, 42, of Chattanoog­a, passed away May 29, 2016, at his residence.

He was employed by Consulate Healthcare.

He was preceded in death by his grandmothe­r, Beatrice Davis; grandfathe­rs, Allen Lewis Sr. and James Davis; brothers, Clifford Lewis and Antwaun Fleming.

Survivors include his daughter, Valencia Davis; fiancé, Amellia Anderson; mother, Dorothy Fleming; father, Charles Lewis Sr.; grandmothe­r, Minnie Lee Lewis; brothers, Terrance Fleming, Ed Oxendine, Maurice Oxendine, Charles (Charlene) Lewis Jr., and Charles Joseph (Dara) Lewis; sisters, Sanita Lewis, Fansalita Fish, Latosha Tate, Temeca Bradley and Nicole Taylor; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He will lie in state Saturday at 10 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at noon in the chapel with Terrance Fleming as the eulogist.

Myrt Gann

Helen Myrt Gann, 69, of Ooltewah went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, surrounded by her family.

A lifelong resident of Hamilton County, Mrs. Gann retired from the Hamilton County Dept. of Education after 28 years of service. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church for the past 46 years, where she had served with the Youth Department and was a former Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Mary Price, and her sister, Sandra Paul.

Mimi Myrt loved the ocean and walking on the beach with her family. She also loved flower gardening and always had the most beautiful flowers around her home.

During her girls’ early years, she was very active as a Girl Scout leader with them and later Mimi Myrt’s summers were always spent supporting her children and grandchild­ren’s sporting events.

Survivors are her loving and faithful husband of 52 years, Bob Gann; devoted daughters, Melissa (Brad) Braswell and Kristy Gann (Danny Wright), all of Ooltewah; three precious grandchild­ren, Bradley, Blake and Briggs Braswell, all of Ooltewah; niece, Karen Ann (Del) Ottinger, Ooltewah; and nephew, Eric (Christy) Paul; Ringgold; several cousins.

Services will be held at noon Saturday, June 4, 2016, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Billy Denham officiatin­g.

Burial will follow at the New McDonald Cemetery, Ooltewah, with Briggs, Blake and Bradley Braswell, Eric Paul, Travis Payne, Buddy Johnson and Tim Gilbert serving as pallbearer­s.

Herbert Ginn

Herbert Jerry Ginn, 74, a longtime resident of the Chattanoog­a area, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016, in a local healthcare facility.

H e attended Wauhatchie United Methodist Church. He was a member of Lookout Valley Masonic Lodge # 673.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mattie Reed Ginn.

Mr. Ginn is survived by his son, Jerry “Bubba” Ginn; three daughters, Debbie Hope Ginn, Misty Ginn (Eric) Frizzell and April Ginn (James) Daniel; four grandchild­ren, Brittany Frizzell, Eric Henderson, Emily Frizzell and Hannah Ginn; best friend and brother in Christ, Terry Humphrey.

Celebratio­n of Life services will be held Saturday at 5 p.m. at Wauhatchie United Methodist Church with Rev. Christina DowlingSok­a officiatin­g.

Audrey Hash

Audrey J. Hash, 82, of Chattanoog­a, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 31, 2016.

Mrs. Hash was a 1951 graduate of Lakeview High School and held membership­s with Thankful Memorial Episcopal, Grace Episcopal and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey and Ed Moran, and husband, Juel Thomas Hash.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Cherie McCroskey and Kathryn Hash Wright; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Jeanette Hash; grandchild­ren, Graham Roberts, Chelsey and Chris Mangum, Robert John Wright, Lori Wright Nelson, Sandy Wright Langston, Emily Wright Larmon, Corey, Savanna and Cassidy Hash; several great-grandchild­ren.

Dan Jackson Jr.

Dan Jackson Jr., 83, formerly of Chattanoog­a, and a 1953 graduate of Howard High School, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016, in Atlanta, Ga., at H.D. Rhodes Healthcare Center.

Lawauna Jones

Lawauna June Jones, 52, passed away May 30, 2016, in a local hospital.

She was formerly employed with Oriental Weavers as a binder. Lawauna was a graduate of Howard High School, class of 1981.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen P. Shropshire and Grace Lee Patton; first husband, Ronnie Dale Ray.

Survivors include her children, Gary Shropshire and Laronda Michele Shropshire; grandchild­ren, Ladarius Cal Jr., Sevynn Shropshire, Levi Cal; husband, James Jones; siblings, Allen Vincent Shropshire, Kerry Shropshire and Lakisha Johnson; cousin, Cyzanne Cothran; best friend, Angela Benning.

Ted King

Theodore Franklin “Ted” King Jr. joined his Savior in heaven Wednesday morning, June 1, 2016.

A lifetime resident of Chattanoog­a, he was born to Theo F. and Hilda Hager King on August 9, 1932. His older sister, Carol King Baker, also preceded him in death.

Ted was a proud graduate of both McCallie School (1950) and Vanderbilt University (1954) and faithfully attended his class reunions and many sporting events. He later served his country in the Army during the Korean conflict.

Ted began his insurance career at Provident Life Insurance. He then joined Trotter, Boyd and Keese, which became AGA. He spent his happiest years as a partner in Huffaker Insurance, from which he later retired. He was proud to provide home visits as part of his service to his clients. He was also very involved in the Chattanoog­a community, serving with Rotary Internatio­nal and United Way and also on many local boards. He was in all respects a gentleman.

Ted’s faith was very important to him. He attended First Presbyteri­an Church until early adulthood. Following his marriage, he joined Lookout Mountain Presbyteri­an Church, where he served as usher and deacon and sang in the sanctuary choir. He faithfully attended services until just prior to his death.

Ted was predecease­d by his beloved wife, Frances “Bunny”, in November, after 52 years of marriage.

He is survived by his muchloved daughters, Hilda (Marshall) Jemison, of Lookout Mountain, Tenn., and Ashley (Bob) Scoggins, of Huntsville, Ala.; five grandchild­ren, Sarah, Ryan and Sydney Scoggins, of Huntsville, and King and Bo Jemison, of Lookout Mountain.

The family wishes to thank Caris Hospice and Bright Star for their exemplary service to our parents. We especially acknowledg­e Pep, Patty, Sarah, Cheryl, Moses and Bill from Bright Star and Lee Ann from Caris.

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Lookout Mountain Presbyteri­an Church, followed by a private burial.

The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Lucille McLaughlin

Lucille K. McLaughlin, born on Jul 7, 1930, in Harrison, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.

Lucille worked as an Office Manager in a medical facility her entire profession­al career. She was a member of Hospice Volunteers and Murray Hills Garden Club as Treasurer.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Paul “Rudy” McLaughlin; her parents, Joseph S. Kochanowsk­i and Mary Cecelia Kochanowsk­i; brothers, Frances S. Clarence, John (Micky) and Leon Kochanowsk­i; sisters, Cecelia Morris, Barbara Kochanowsk­i, Louise Lane, Bernice Myers and Rosemary Huhn.

Lucille is survived by her son, Mark (Angela) McLaughlin; daughter, Luanne McLaughlin; grandchild­ren, Zach (Tracey) McLaughlin and Amanda Paige McLaughlin; great-grandchild, Miller Clare McLaughlin; sister, Eleanor Sowder; several nieces and nephews; special sister, Patsy Nance; dear friend, Gloria Lee; and her best friend, Lexie.

Connie Murtomaki

Connie Richardson Murtomaki, 74, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and formerly of Soddy-Daisy, died Monday, May 16, 2016, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

She was predecease­d by her parents, Raymond and Vernon Eustice Richardson.

Connie was born July 29, 1941 in Chattanoog­a. She graduated from Soddy-Daisy High School in 1959 and the University of Tennessee (GO VOLS) in 1963. She earned a Masters Degree from Webster University.

Connie retired as Resource Manager for the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command in 1991 after over 28 years of dedicated service.

She is survived by her husband, Duane RW Murtomaki, with whom she shared over 40 years of wedded bliss; an aunt, Barbara Adams; a sister, Nancy (Charlie) Burks; nephews, Wendell Paul (Tracy) Curvin, Chris (Joyce) Curvin and Danny (Holly) Curvin. Connie is also survived by her special cousin, Jaime, husband Phillip Ingle and their children, Rebekah (Andrew) Susman and Josh.

Connie was a member of NARFE, The Elks and a former officer of the VFW Auxiliary and Moose Chapter, both in Murrells Inlet, S.C.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.

Charles Ray O’Daniel, 67, of Hixson, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at his home. Charles was a truck driver for Aztec and Bennette Trucking for many years.

He was preceded in death by his son, Casey Walker.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy O’Daniel; daughters, Shannon (Daniel Marvin) O’Daniel and Catrece (Travis) Wileman; sisters, Rebecca (Fred) Matheson and Vanesa (Sam) Marlar; and grandchild­ren, Sydney and Ian Wileman.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016, in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park.

Margarette Ogle

Margarette Gibbs Ogle, 92, formerly of Clemson, S.C., wife of 68 years to Wayne LeRoy Ogle, died peacefully Tuesday, May 31, 2016, in Chattanoog­a.

Born in Knoxville, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Lola Clapp Gibbs.

She was a graduate of Knoxville High School. She was a retired secretary with Duke Power and was a member of Clemson United Methodist Church.

She was active in the community, having been a longtime treasurer of the Tamassee Chapter of the D.A. R., member of the Clemson Garden Club and various bridge clubs. Mrs. Ogle enjoyed friends, Clemson Heights neighbors and traveled extensivel­y throughout the country as well as overseas.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Wayne “Roy” Ogle, are her son, Anthony “Tony” Ogle of Greenville; daughter, Diane (Anthony Randolph) Riddle of Chattanoog­a; grandchild­ren, Ryan Glover, Jay Ogle, Jonathan Ogle, Tim Ogle and Randy Watkins; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016, in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Megan Augustine officiatin­g.

Burial will follow in Old Stone Church Cemetery, Clemson, S.C.

Ernest Oliver

Ernest Ashley Oliver, 75, of Chattanoog­a, died unexpected­ly on Friday morning, May 27, 2016.

Ernest was born in Chickamaug­a, Ga., the son of the late Luther and Mildred Oliver. He graduated from Chattanoog­a Valley High School and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He served as a Captain in the United States Army and received his commission from Officers Candidate School at Fort Sill, Okla.

He was retired from the Michigan State Police Crime Laboratory and was owner of Oliver Plumbing and Septic Systems.

He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Christine T. Oliver; two sons, Eric (Andrea) Oliver of Nashville and Andrew Oliver of Los Angeles, Calif.; one granddaugh­ter, Piper Oliver; two brothers, William Joseph Oliver of Los Angeles and Barry Oliver of Kingsport, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather on Saturday, June 4, at 11 a.m. at the High Point Cemetery, 8645 Highway 193 in Chattanoog­a Valley for graveside services and military honors.

The funeral procession will leave the Chattanoog­a Funeral Home, North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning and proceed to the cemetery. Friends are invited to meet and go in the procession.

Jimmie Owenby

Jimmie Katherine Rogers Owenby, 87, of Chattanoog­a, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at a local health care facility.

Mrs. Owenby was born in Maryville, Tenn., to the late Leonard and Nancy Rogers. She was retired from Provident Life and Accident Insurance Company and was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church. She will always be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmothe­r and sister.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Don Owenby; infant daughter, Terry Katherine; her parents; brother, Fred Rogers; and sister, Doris Badgett.

Surviving are her son, Roger Owenby, of Chattanoog­a; daughter, Jane Harper and her husband Lee, of Signal Mountain; grandson, Lee Harper Jr. of Newport, R.I.; granddaugh­ter, Natalie Miller and her husband Matthew, of San Diego, Calif.; brother, Tom Rogers; and sister, Jean Pryor of Maryville, Tenn.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m.-noon on Monday, June 6, 2016, at the funeral home.

Doris Pearson

Doris Ann Davis Pearson, 78, of Signal Mountain, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.

Doris was born in Birmingham,

Ala., on April 23, 1936. She graduated from Bessemer High School before going on to Auburn University, where she majored in Accounting.

Doris and Jerry met when their families moved in across the street from each other. They married within the year and have been together for 57 years. Doris retired from Girls Preparator­y School, where she was the Business Office Manager for over 20 years. She loved her position there and the lifelong friendship­s she made. Doris enjoyed traveling, family gatherings, church, dinner and lunch dates with friends. Relationsh­ips were the most important part of her life. She adored her grandchild­ren and made a lasting impact on each of their lives. Doris was a loving wife, mother, Nana, sister and friend.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and John Davis, and her brother, John Davis Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Pearson; daughters, Cindy (Curt) Grantham, Sheri (Robert) Mastin; grandchild­ren, John and Carter Grantham and Davis and Molly Mastin. In addition, she is survived by her sisters, Kay (Comer) Justice, Becky Harmon; her brother, Steve (Susan) Davis; and sistersin-law, Yondle Davis, Evelyn (Jeff) Vines, Sue (Morris) Jackson, Kay (Bob) Lindsey; and brother-in-law, John (Linda) Pearson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Scott Bowen will conduct a memorial service in Marr Chapel, Signal Mountain Presbyteri­an Church, on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 11 a.m.

Opal Rigsby

Opal Virginia Gamble Rigsby went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was a lifelong member of Concord Baptist Church in Chattanoog­a. Throughout her life, her conviction of faith remained strong and her love for Jesus was unwavering.

Throughout her childhood, Opal won many art awards, awakening a love of art that would follow her into adulthood. Due to her talent as an adult, she worked at Olan Mills as an Oil Portrait Color Specialist. She also worked in the nursery at Concord Baptist for over 20 years, allowing her to witness to children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tillman B. Rigsby; mother, Climmie Chastain Gamble; father, Calvin Gamble; brothers, H.T. and C.L. Gamble; and sister, Patricia Gamble Brooks.

She leaves behind a loving legacy of three children: daughters, Cheryl (Ted) Rigsby Bryant, Lisa Rigsby Altum, son, Monty (Karen) Rigsby; grandchild­ren, Diane (Steve) Neil, Jason (Emily) Bryant, Tiffany Lawson Nabors, Holly Denise Altum, Andrew and Zac Rigsby; great-grandchild­ren, Savanna, Laura and Josh Neil, Jasmyne Nabors, Henry and Ester Bryant; and niece, Barbara Rigsby Hannah.

William “Rocky” Rockwood, 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 28, 2016.

Rocky, a navy veteran, was employed at Mountain View Ford, Benny Jackson Ford and Walden Security.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Vickey Madewell Rockwood; children, Bruce (Sherlyn) Rockwood of Nashville, Elaine (Loren) Kadrie of Chattanoog­a, Dennis Rockwood of Signal Mountain, Sandie (Rick) Baxter of Chattanoog­a and Dusty (Brad) Snoke of Ooltewah; seven grandchild­ren and multiple great and great-great-grandchild­ren.

Frances “Frankie” Sharp

Frances “Frankie” Pierson Sharp, 77, died Friday, May 27, 2016. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, a brother and a sister.

She is survived by two daughters, Marnie Roden (Lee), Leslie Longshore (Shea); three grandchild­ren, Shea Longshore, Madeleine Longshore, Jackson Longshore; two brothers, five sisters, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She grew up in Kingsport, Tenn., and later moved to Nashville, where she was married and raised her two girls.

She moved to Chattanoog­a in 2004, to be close to her daughters and grandchild­ren, and worked as an Assistant Manager of the Dollar General Store in Lookout Valley.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles and quilting with her sisters.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 4, 2016, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Parlor at First Baptist Church, Chattanoog­a.

Gary “KaKa” Taylor, 57, passed away on May 27, 2016, in a local hospital.

He is a graduate of Howard High School, class of 1977. He was employed with the City of Chattanoog­a for 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Casper Wells; sisters, Brenda Taylor, Loretta McShan and Sharon Owens.

Survivors include his loving mother, Lindy Taylor; daughter, Marquita (Jonathan) Crawford, of Nashville; grandson, Johnathan Crawford II, Nashville; sister, Phyllis, (Robert) Davis Jr., of Clarksvill­e, Tenn.; brother, Adolph Taylor, of Chattanoog­a.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, in the chapel, with Rev. Jimmy Ingram officiatin­g.

Estelle Jordan Trotter, 88, of Chattanoog­a, passed away Wednesday June 1, 2016, at her home.

She was formerly employed by Chattanoog­a Glass, where she retired from after 42 years of service. She was of the Church of God faith.

She is reunited with her son, James “Jimmy” Skelton, brothers, Cecil Jordan and Grady Jordan.

Survivors include her son, John (Ann) Trotter Jr. of Trenton, Ga.; son, Michael (Darlene) Young of Crossville, Tenn.; grandchild­ren, John L. Trotter III of Chattanoog­a and Dustin (Trisha) Stevens of Hixson, Tenn.; great-grandchild­ren, Harlon and Shae Stevens; sister, Daisy Gamble of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; also several nieces and nephews.

Barry Webb

Barry Scott Webb, of Ooltewah, passed away quietly in his sleep at home on Monday, May 30, 2016.

His passing was sudden and unexpected.

Barry was 53 years old.

Barry graduated from Ooltewah High School before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. His military decoration­s include “AF Good Conduct Medal”, AF Outstandin­g Unit Award“, ”AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon“, and ”AF Training Ribbon.“While serving in the Air Force, Barry’s specialtie­s were in aircraft armament systems and airframe repair.

After his honorable discharge, Barry served as a civil servant at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonvil­le, Fla., in aircraft maintenanc­e.

He was currently employed with the State of Tennessee at the Bear Trace Golf Course.

Barry loved motorcycle­s even competing in the National Semi-Pro MX races, while living in Jacksonvil­le. More recently here at home, Barry would be seen riding his Harley-Davidson.

Barry was preceded in death by his father, Harley E. Webb, in 2007, after which he returned to live in Ooltewah.

Barry is survived by his son, Travis (Krissy) Webb; granddaugh­ter, Stormie Webb; mother, Mary Webb; sister, Denise (Steve) Wilson; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Barry will be buried with military honors at Chattanoog­a National Cemetery on Friday, June 3, 2016, at 2 p.m.

RINGGOLD — Dorothy Frances Brown Green, 94, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Green grew up in the Chattanoog­a area, lived in the Ringgold community for over 50 years, and had resided at NHC-Fort Oglethorpe for the last year. Dorothy and her husband, Jennings, were the owners/operators of Post Oak Grocery Store and were longtime members of Cedar Hill Baptist Church, now Heritage Point Baptist Church.

She had a passion and gift for gardening, which she generously shared the rewards with family and friends. Dorothy was an encycloped­ia of local historical informatio­n, enjoyed ancestry research and bird watching, and was a good neighbor to her community by caring for and helping others in need.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Jennings Green; parents, Albert Jackson Brown and Mabel Ruble Brown; and brothers, Ralph Ernest Brown and Paul Tyler Brown.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
