Ernest Strickland Jr.

Ernest Strickland, Jr., of Ooltewah, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016, in a local hospital. He retired from Alstom Power after many years of service.

He was a faithful member of Hawkinsvil­le Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.

He was also a member of AARP and the NAACP.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Strickland, Sr.; mother, Irene Strickland; siblings, Joe Strickland, Inez Reed, and Opal Talley; nephew, Andy Strickland.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria J. Strickland; sons, Langdon (Roshell) Strickland, of Tampa, Fla., and Jemaine (Latoya) Strickland, of Powder Springs, Ga.; daughter, Stephanie (Scott) Sheridan, of Ooltewah; 12 grandchild­ren; three great-grandchild­ren; brother, Connell Strickland, of Ringgold, Ga.; sisters, Wylene (Rev. J.C., IV) Bonner, of St. Louis, Mo., and Sarah Moore, of Chattanoog­a; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.

Visitation is today, at 11 a.m. at Hawkinsvil­le Missionary Baptist Church, with the funeral to follow at noon, with Pastor J.C. Bonner, IV as the eulogist.

Burial in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Allen “Ramey” Cunningham

GRUETLI-LAAGER — Allen Howard “Ramey” Cunningham, 63, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016. He was born Oct. 7, 1952. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Rae Burnett Cunningham; and daughter, Andrea Cunningham.

He is survived by his father, Howard Shirley Cunningham; son, Ryan Cunningham; three grandchild­ren; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside funeral services will be 2 p.m. today, in the Fall Creek Cemetery, with Pastor Matthew Meeks officiatin­g.

Visitation was Friday, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tenn.

WHITWELL — Anna Jane Graves Mabry Morrow, 67, of Whitwell, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016.

Anna was born in Tallulah, La., to the late Robert N. and Grace Graves.

She attended LSU and graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Roane State.

Anna was very artistic, quick witted, an avid reader and loved her grandchild­ren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Chuck and Bob Mabry.

Anna is survived by her son and daughterin-law, Jonathan and Mandi Morrow; and their children, Austin, Sarah Beth, and Madison; daughter-in-law, Keiko Mabry (wife to Bob); and her daughter, Aiko; sister, Cindy.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Graveside services for Anna will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, with her son, Jonathan officiatin­g.

James Earl Nunley

WHITWELL — James Earl Nunley, 81, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016.

Mr. Nunley was a local businessma­n. He spent 37 years in the coal industry as a coal operator (3N Coal Company, J.E.N. Coal Co, Nunley & Thompson Coal Co. and Tennessee Classic Coal).

Nunley Farms was also a business he enjoyed for 37 years with his son Dennis Nunley.

He was active within the community and was one of the originator­s to the Whitwell Park along with Dibber Henry and Marvin Fletcher in the middle 1970’s.

Mr. Nunley has numerous historical contributi­ons on exhibit at the Whitwell Miners Museum.

He married Ollie Mae Campbell in 1954 and they have spent the past 62 years building a lifetime of memories.

They had two children, son, the Late Dennis Nunley and daughter, Rhonda (Jeff O’Neal) Nunley; grandchild­ren, Dennis Jr. (Glenna) Nunley, Hollie Marie Nunley, Ryan (Nicholas) Campbell, Robin Simpson and Jamie Simpson; four great grandchild­ren, Sam, Ethan, Annabelle, and Eli (our little angel), sisters, Elsie Campbell, Pam Eggert, and Darlene (Ronald) Bryant; brother, Gary (Barbara) Nunley.

Mr. Nunley was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Oma Nunley; son, Dennis Earl Nunley; Great Grandson, Nicholas James Elijah “Eli” Campbell; three brothers, Ray Dean Nunley, Ronald Jean Nunley, Bradley Nunley; two sisters, Juanita Nunley Campbell and Sandra Nunley

Family will receive friends 1 to 8 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2016.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Sunday, July 31, 2016, in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Ronnie Bryant, Rev. Jim Troyer and Stephen Greer officiatin­g. Interment at Whitwell Memorial Cemetery.

TRION — Annie “Irene” Bartlett, 100, died July 28, 2016.

RINGGOLD — Mildred Antonia Mitchell Bruschi, 98, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016, at her residence.

She was a faithful member of Ringgold Church of Christ.

She is survived by three children, Anthony Bruschi (Sharon), of Ringgold, Ga., Philip Bruschi (Barbara), of Hampstead, N.C., and Regina Reilly (John), of Mercervill­e, N.J.

Scott Coleman

TRION — Scott Edward Coleman, 53, died July 29, 2016.

Survivors include, wife, Mija Coleman; daughter, Julie Coleman; son, Ray Coleman; sisters, Kelly Coffin and Glenda Stryker.

Mr. Coleman was cremated and no formal services are scheduled at this time.

Priscilla Daugherty

RINGGOLD — Priscilla May Daugherty, 70, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 27, 2016.

She was born in Charleston, W.Va., to the late Elmer and Juanita Craigo and lived most of her life in that area before moving to North Georgia in 1980.

She was a true prayer warrior in every sense of the word, a woman that put God first and her family followed, she was truly the definition of a virtuous woman.

She was a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmothe­r, that will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Stevens.

Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, Danny Daugherty, Sr.; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Kym Daugherty, Jr., all of Ringgold, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Carolyn Craigo, of Clayton, N.C.; sister, Nila Craigo, of Smithfield, N.C.; three grandchild­ren, Sophia Daugherty, Jessica Cochran and Amanda Cochran; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2016, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel, with Bro. Alan Robinson officiatin­g. Burial will be private. LaFAYETTE — Dennis Stephen Estus, 63, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016.

Preceded in death by his parents, Salis Ray and Jessie Helton Estus; and sister, Wanda Reynolds.

Steve is survived by his wife, Donna Sue Estus, of LaFayette; daughter, Amanda (Chris) Pippin; sons, David (Melissa) Estus and Will Estus, all of LaFayette; sister, Dianne Eaton; brother, Dale (Judy) Stiles and Benny Wayne Helton, all of LaFayette; grandchild­ren, Brook Massey, Bailey Arthur, Michael, Tyler, Brian and Adam Pippin; great-grandchild­ren, Kenna and Eli Massey; several nieces and nephews; and Michael Bean, which Steve thought of like a son.

ROSSVILLE — Ian Tyler Lowrey, Jr., 2 1/2 of Rossville, died Tuesday, July 26, 2016, in a local hospital.

His family attended Ft. Oglethorpe Church of Christ and he is survived by parents; Courtney Haley and Ian Lowery; grandparen­ts, Danny and Angela Harrison, of Rossville; a sister, Kinzlynn Richmond, of Rossville; an uncle, Tyson Haley, of Rossville; and an aunt, Megan Lowrey, of Dalton.

ROSSVILLE — James Andrew Wilbanks Sr., 74, passed away Thursday July 28, 2016.

He was a life-long resident of the North Georgia area and was of the Baptist faith. James retired from Astec Industries after more than 20 years of service. He enjoyed metal working and crafts and loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Velvia Wilbanks.

Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Laverne Wilbanks; children, Andy Wilbanks, Trish Abercrombi­e, Rodney Wilbanks, Terry Wayne Abercrombi­e, and Garry Abercrombi­e; brothers, Jewel Ray “Hunt” Wilbanks and David “Duke” Wilbanks; sisters, Joan Oldaker and Dot Smith; eight grandchild­ren, several great grandchild­ren, along with several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Jason Willoughby officiatin­g. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
