Cocktails, zombies, gluten in mix of upcoming classes

Chattery classes encompass a wide range of topics, from practical wisdom to whimsy.

- STAFF REPORT

The Chattery, a Chattanooga nonprofit that specializes in quick-hit learning, has scheduled a new round of classes, including one that gives an overview of the organization’s offerings.

Speed Learning With the Chattery, set for 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, could be considered a sampler of what’s available.

“Think speed dating, but less pressure,” says Jennifer Holder, co-founder and operations headmaster of The Chattery. “Participants will be able to go to each table and learn something new. We’ll have improv, fermentation, cooking skills and more.

“We’ve done the event twice now,” she says, “and it is a really fun way for people to understand what The Chattery is about and benefit from some free learning.”

Chattery classes encompass a wide range of topics, from practical wisdom to whimsy. On the horizon, for example, are classes that teach the basics of financial security and digital networking skills, along with others that focus on tarot cards and a justin-case survival guide to a zombie apocalypse.

Chattery officials say they welcome suggestions for class topics, either from those who want to try out a particular class or those who want to teach one.

The Speed Learning sampler is free. Prices vary for other courses. More information can be found at www.thechattery.org.
