Recycle your tree, get mulch in return

This year you can turn your Christmas tree into landscapin­g mulch while barely lifting a finger.

Hamilton County will be accepting Christmas trees at all five of its recycling centers starting Jan. 1 and continuing through the month, a news release from County Mayor Jim Coppinger’s office states.

The county highway department will chip the trees into mulch that is used on walking trails, landscapin­g and landfill ground cover. County residents are welcome to pick up free mulch for their own use from the chip yard at the highway department on Standifer Gap Road.

Recycling centers and hours are:

7625 Standifer Gap Road, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.. Saturday. Call 423-855-6125.
