Police investigating two domestic stabbings
Chattanooga police are investigating two separate stabbing incidents early Christmas Day, both apparently involving domestic arguments.
At 9:43 a.m., police officers responded to a call of a stabbing in the 1300 block of Moss Drive near Wilcox Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found a female victim who was suffering from multiple stab wounds.
She was taken to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS, but her wounds did not appear to be life threatening.
Officers identified a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant, but when they tried to arrest the man in the 1500 block of Akins Drive, he was uncooperative and refused to leave, they said.
The SWAT team and hostage negotiators were called to the scene and after more than an hour, they convinced the suspect to surrender without further incident, police said.
Because of the domestic nature of the incident, police are not releasing the name of the victim.
Earlier in the day, police investigated a stabbing after a man showed up at a local hospital about 8:30 a.m. suffering from multiple stab wounds.
The injuries did not appear to be life threatening, police said.
Officers said the attack occurred, in the 900 block of West 37th Street and witnesses provided information about a possible suspect, police said.
They located the suspect at the residence and detained her for questioning, according to the police report.
Officials said the incident appeared to a domestic argument. They did not release the name of the victim or suspect.
Officials asked anyone with information about either incident to contact the Chattanooga police at 423-698-2525.
