Local Realtor arrested

- STAFF REPORT

A prominent Chattanooga Realtor has been charged with drug possession after he was found unresponsive in his home from an apparent drug overdose.

Officers responding to a Lookout Mountain, Ga., home on Rock City Trail on Feb. 5 found 53-year-old James “Jay” Robinson on a bathroom floor, according to the incident report. The officer reported Robinson’s face was bluish in color and he had labored breathing.

On the toilet lid was a white powdery substance, which later tested positive for cocaine, and a brown, chalk- like substance, which tested positive for heroine, the report says.

Also found next to Robinson were several pieces of tin foil with black residue, two red plastic straws with one containing black residue, one small straw with a black residue and a blue lighter.

Robinson was moved to another room, and when the officer pressed on his chest, he awoke “violently,” tried to get up and asked where he was. The officer said he had to restrain him from getting up and he would fall unconscious, having to be shaken awake.

He initially said he hadn’t taken anything, but eventually said he had taken cocaine and smoked hydrocodone, the report says. He was transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Robinson was arrested on Feb. 7 and charged with possession of cocaine and possession of heroin. He did not return a request for comment Friday afternoon.
