GEORGIA BULLDOGS

-

QUARTERBACKS

Jake Fromm completed 13 of 28 passes for 184 yards and a touchdown, so he wasn’t great, yet he wasn’t a disaster. The freshman definitely did not have comfort in the pocket as in most weeks, sustaining four sacks.

RUNNING BACKS

Nick Chubb rushed 11 times for 27 yards, averaging 2.5 yards a carry, while Sony Michel had nine carries for 21 yards, averaging 2.3. D’Andre Swift had the long run of 10 for a group that didn’t make much happen.

RECEIVERS

The acrobatic Javon Wims had three catches for 96 yards and gave Auburn fits in one-on-one situations, but Riley Ridley had a monstrous drop early in the second quarter after the Tigers had grabbed a 9-7 lead.

OFFENSIVE LINE

The expected weak link on Georgia’s team finally looked like one in the 10th game. Andrew Thomas got whipped by Jeff Holland for the first of Georgia’s four sacks allowed, and the running game averaged 1.4 yards.

DEFENSIVE LINE

Trenton Thompson broke through early to affect Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham, but once running back Kerryon Johnson got going, the Bulldogs had no answers. Both the tireless Johnson and Auburn as a team averaged 5.2 yards per carry.

LINEBACKERS

Roquan Smith continued to shine, even in defeat, racking up 12 tackles and 1.5 for loss. Lorenzo Carter, Natrez Patrick and D’Andre Walker had tackles for loss as well as part of a unit that was pummelled for 488 yards.

DEFENSIVE BACKS

Aaron Davis and J.R. Reed combined for 2.5 tackles for loss, but many of their 18 combined overall tackles were well down the field. A personal foul on Malkom Parrish helped put Auburn in position to take the lead.

SPECIAL TEAMS

A lot of good and bad here. Mecole Hardman averaged 28.4 yards on kickoff returns but had a disastrous fumbled punt. Cameron Nizialek placed a punt down at Auburn’s 3, but Walker was flagged for roughing the kicker.

COACHING

The Bulldogs were brilliant out of the gate before failing to adjust to adverse moments. Head coach Kirby Smart had a couple of questionable decisions, which folks tend to notice a lot more during these types of outcomes.
