Sweet Tradition

Creative Discovery Museum’s gingerbread workshops begin this weekend

-

A sweet tradition returns to the Creative Discovery Museum, 321 Chestnut St., this weekend when the children’s museum begins its annual gingerbread workshops.

These workshops are so in demand that six of the 14 available seatings have already sold out.

The eight remaining are: ›

Saturday, Nov. 25, 10:30 a.m. ›

Saturday, Nov. 25, 1 p.m. ›

Sunday, Nov. 26, 2 p.m. › Saturday, Dec. 2, 1 p.m. › Saturday, Dec. 9, 1 p.m. › Sunday, Dec. 10, 2 p.m. › Saturday, Dec. 16, 10:30 a.m. ›

Sunday, Dec. 17, 2 p.m. For these festive events, the museum provides hot chocolate, cookies, pre-built houses, icing, candy and holiday music.

Children and their families can decorate a house and gingerbread cookies with icing and an assortment of candy — some of which may end up in tiny tummies. Many families have made this a multigenerational event. Grandparents and grandchildren can enjoy time together decorating a holiday house.

Due to space limitations, there is a limit of three people to each house.

Reservations are required in advance. Space is not guaranteed for walk-ups.

The fee is $25 members, $45 nonmembers. Admission to the museum is included for nonmembers participating in a workshop.

Note: With the wide range of known food allergies, the museum staff can’t guarantee that this program is allergen-free. If food allergies are a concern for your family, notify the museum of this when making a reservation.
