› UTC senior Aryanna Gilbert followed her teammate sister Keiana as the College Sports Madness SoCon women’s basketball player of the week, announced Monday. Aryanna scored 25 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field in Saturday’s overtime win against UT-Martin and stretcked her streak of made free throws to 17 in a row. She also led UTC with eight rebounds and had five assists with only turnover. She’s averaging 13.4 points a game this season.

› Covenant College had both the men’s player and men’s rookie of the week in USA South basketball. Senior Patjo Twagirayez­u was the overall honoree with 22 and 30 points in the Scots’ 2-0 week, and freshman Will Crumly earned the rookie honor with 26 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots in the two games. He had 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting and eight rebounds against Berea. Twagirayez­u totaled 15 rebounds for the week and was 7-of-7 on 3-point shots.

› Cam Caldwell of Sewanee, which hosts Covenant tonight, was chosen the Southern Athletic Associatio­n men’s player of the week after totaling 35 points with six 3s, 16 rebounds and four assists in two games. The junior guard added three blocked shots against Piedmont.

› Tennessee Wesleyan junior Hunter Simpson from Madisonvil­le was selected the AAC women’s player of the week for her part in the Lady Bulldogs’ three wins. Shooting 69.2 percent from the field, she averaged 20.3 points a game with a career-high 34 in an 81-75 league victory over Milligan and also averaged 5.7 assists and five rebounds a game.

› Since starting basketball under coach Tony Ingle in the 2013-14 season, Dalton State College has nine more wins than any other men’s four-year program in Georgia, and Ingle passed 300 four-year-college victories for his career last week. He’s at 301. The former Dalton State Junior College guard has an NCAA Division II national championsh­ip with Kennesaw State and the 2015 NAIA Division I national title with the Roadrunner­s, the first year they were eligible. Counting their 7-2 record this season, the Roadrunner­s have won 113 games since their debut, including 32 in 2014-15, 29 last year and 26 in 2013-14. Emmanuel at 104 is Georgia’s only other triple-digit men’s winner in that span.
