The Mr. Football semifinalist led the area with 138.5 total tackles and had six for loss and three sacks. He also ran for more than 1,000 yards and scored 17 touchdowns.
DERAYL HELTON Ridgeland Senior • Lineman
He was a key cog in a defense that allowed fewer than 10 points per game with 82 tackles, 10 for loss, in leading the Panthers to a region title and 11 wins.
JACOB SAYLORS Marion County Senior • Back
The Mr. Football finalist was a 2,000-yard rusher and the Warriors’ shutdown defender with five pickoffs, returning two for TDs, and 50-plus tackles.
GABE BORING Bledsoe County Senior • Punter
The state’s Mr. Football award winner for kicker of the year led the area by averaging 46.8 yards per punt, with a long of 65 yards.
LUKE JOHNS Southeast Whitfield Senior • Lineman
The Georgia Tech signee was a terror for the Raiders with 94 tackles, including 18 for loss and five sacks.
BRANNON SPECTOR Calhoun Junior • Back
The Clemson recruit and two-way star for the state champions had 89 tackles and four interceptions, including a key pick-six in the title game.
ZAINE BURTON Heritage Senior • Linebacker
He was a wrecking ball for the Generals, racking up 32 tackles for loss, 13 sacks and three forced fumbles for the region runners-up.
TRACY JUSTICE Tyner Senior • Lineman
He totaled 121.5 tackles and led the area with 33 tackles for loss and 20 sacks to help the Rams reach the Class 2A state championship game.
AARON SWAFFORD Meigs County Sophomore • Back
The Mr. Football finalist had four interceptions, returning two for TDs, and 50-plus tackles, while accounting for more than 2,500 offensive yards.
JAMEL DAVIS Red Bank Senior • Lineman
He finished with 46 solo tackles, 12 for loss and five sacks to help lead one of the area’s top defensive lines.
JAWAN MARTIN Meigs County Senior • Linebacker
He ranked as the area’s number three overall tackler with 125 total stops, and he had nine tackles for loss to help the Tigers reach the Class 2A quarterfinals.

The Mississippi State baseball recruit had 113 tackles, including nine for loss, while also netting 705 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.
