› Bach cantata: Chattanooga Bach Choir, led by artistic director David Long, continues its Cantata Series at 4 p.m. Jan. 21 at Christ Church Episcopal, 663 Douglas St. The program features Johann Sebastian Bach’s Cantata BWV 73, which translates “Lord, as You Will, So Let It Be Done With Me,” written for the third Sunday after Epiphany. Completing the hourlong program are a motet by Josquin des Prez based on Psalm 13 and Bach’s “Come Holy Ghost” fantasia. Admission is $15 for adults, free for students. www.chattanoogabachchoir.org.

› Rhythms Retreats: “Longing for More — An Invitation to Spiritual Transformation,” the first in a nine-part series exploring spiritual practices to cultivate intimacy with Christ, nourish the soul and transform your life, is set for 9 a.m.-noon today at Chattanooga House of Prayer, 3912 Dayton Blvd., Suite 200, Red Bank. Led by Micki Ann Harris, ChattHOP’s spiritual formation director, the free sessions may be taken as a whole or individually. › Prime Time January Series: Four-week series by First-Centenary United Methodist Church’s United Methodist Women at Oak Street Center, 403 Oak St., meets 6-7 p.m. Wednesdays on the theme “How Do We Respond to God’s Call for Social Justice?” This week, Jan. 17: “Criminalization of Communities of Color and Mass Incarceration,” presented by Michelle D. Deardorff, Adolph S. Ochs Professor of Government and head of the Department of Political Science and Public Service at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. No charge. › Pastor anniversary: Pilgrim Rock Baptist Church, 1726 Church Road, will celebrate the first anniversary of service of the pastor and his wife, Floyd and Rose Croft, on Sunday. Guests will be Danny Wesley, associate minister of New Horizon Baptist Church, at the 11 a.m. service and Pastor Carlos Williams and Orchard Knob Baptist Church at 4 p.m.

› M.L. King Birthday Celebration: Unity Group of Chattanooga and the MLK Birthday Committee will present a program on the roles that children played in the civil-rights movement 4-6 p.m. Sunday at St. James Baptist Church, 1916 Duncan Ave. Cake and ice cream will follow. › King memorial celebration: Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, will host its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Memorial Celebration at 6:30 p.m. Monday. The Rev. William Terry Ladd III, pastor of First Baptist Church, East Eighth Street, will speak on the theme “Keep on Dreaming.”

› Night To Shine:

Spring Creek Road Baptist Church is among 450 churches around the world hosting a Shine Prom for people with special needs, ages 14 and older, 6-9 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Colonnade, 264 Catoosa Circle, Ringgold, Ga. The event includes a limo ride, red-carpet paparazzi, free photos, catered dinner, dance music and karaoke for promgoers, plus Respite Room for parents and caregivers.
