OL Warmack leaving Bama as grad transfer

- BY DAVID PASCHALL STAFF WRITER

Alabama offensive lineman Dallas Warmack, a redshirt junior and the younger brother of former Crimson Tide standout Chance Warmack, is transferring to use his remaining college football eligibility as a graduate student.

The younger Warmack was a four-star signee in 2015 and played in seven games as a freshman. The 6-foot-2, 314-pounder from Atlanta appeared in nine games as a sophomore but did not play this past season and redshirted.

Alabama has endured 10 transfers from its 2015 class, including former fivestar defensive back Kendall Sheffield (now at Ohio State) and five-star quarterback Blake Barnett (who transferred to Arizona State but recently left the Sun Devils). The Tide’s 2015 haul also included a trio of recent first-round NFL draft picks — defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick, defensive tackle Da’Ron Payne and receiver Calvin Ridley — as well as prominent returning players such as outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings, safety Deionte Thompson and two-time 1,000yard rusher Damien Harris.

Oregon has been reported as a possible destination for Warmack given that Ducks coach Mario Cristobal was Alabama’s offensive line coach during the two seasons in which Warmack played.

Chance Warmack was the starting left guard for the Tide’s 2011-12 national championship teams and was the 10th overall pick of the Tennessee Titans in the 2013 draft. He was with the Titans for four years before spending last season with the Super Bowl LII champion Philadelphia Eagles, playing in 11 games, including three starts.

Dale commits

Alabama landed the 12th commitment for its 2019 signing class Wednesday afternoon, receiving a nonbinding pledge from defensive tackle D.J. Dale from the Birmingham suburb of Pinson. The 6-2, 323-pounder is a fourstar prospect, according to 247Sports.com, which rates him as the nation’s No. 15 defensive tackle and the No. 266 prospect overall.

The Tide have the nation’s No. 1 class of commitments.
