Late Night Laughs: Around the White House

-

› Trump’s new lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, has been everywhere, saying everything, in no particular order. First, he told Sean Hannity that Trump, despite repeated denials, had, in fact, reimbursed Michael Cohen the $130,000 Cohen paid to Stormy Daniels. Trump backed that up on Twitter and then had tweeted “regwet” and claimed Giuliani just had a momentary oopsy-a-truthie: “He started yesterday. He’ll get his facts straight.” That’s just Rudy using a classic legal strategy: Step one: Go on every TV show known to man. Step two: Learn the facts of your case. — Stephen Colbert

› President Trump is getting annoyed with Rudy Giuliani’s TV appearances because he keeps going off-topic. Trump staffers were like, “Yeah, it must be really awful having to deal with that.” — Jimmy Fallon ›

Stormy Daniels’ lawyer, Michael Avenatti, says Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen might have gotten Stormy’s hush money from a Russian businessman. Even the Avengers are like, “OK, there are way too many characters.” — Jimmy Fallon

› Yesterday it was revealed that Donald Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen, who made a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels, had received half a million dollars from a Russian businessman with ties to Vladimir Putin. This story sounds like a word problem you’d see on a math test: If Michael Cohen received $500,000 from the Russians, but only gave $130,000 to Stormy Daniels, how many years does Michael spend in jail? — James Corden

› According to The New York Times, the shell company that President Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, used to pay Stormy Daniels received payments from AT&T. To thank them, Cohen will be using AT&T for his one phone call. — Seth Meyers

› Yesterday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders disputed reports that first lady Melania Trump lives with her parents in Washington, D.C., and not at the White House. While Rudy Giuliani went on Fox News and said she is, and gave out the address. — Seth Meyers

› Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she is unaware of hush money payments made by President Trump to other women. Then Sanders opened an envelope full of cash and said, “I’m sorry, I can’t talk anymore.” — Conan O’Brien
