› Gordon Mote: The gospel performer, blind since birth and playing piano since age 3, will be in concert at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Hickory Valley Baptist Church, 2320 Hickory Valley Road. He played for the Gaither Vocal Band for six and a half years, is a studio musician in Nashville, has been honored three times by the Academy of Country Music and earned a Grammy nomination for his latest album, “Hymns and Songs of Inspiratio­n.”

› Nativity Rising Artists: On Trinity Sunday, May 27, Church of the Nativity Episcopal Church, 1201 Cross St., Fort Oglethorpe, will host the first of two Chattanoog­a Music Club Scholarshi­p winners, as violinist Hayden Daniel presents “The Violin Times Three,” featuring works by Bach, Elgar and Kreisler. › Commitment: The Spiritual Legacy of Pat Summitt: The final installmen­t of this Christian education class, led by the Rev. Joel Huffstetle­r, is 9:30-10:30 a.m. Sunday in the Parish Hall of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 320 Broad St. NW in Cleveland, Tenn. Summitt, the legendary head basketball coach of the University of Tennessee Lady Vols from 1974 to 2012, died in 2016 at age 64 after being diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. 423476-5541.

› Pastor reception:

Cleveland Cowboy Church, 3040 Blythe Road, will honor Pastor Wally Varnell on May 27 as he celebrates his 85th birthday. The “just as you are” worship service starts at 11 a.m., with special music provided by gospel singer Joel Moore, host of the church’s Friday night Cowboy Gospel Jubilee. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. Varnell has been active in ministry for more than 50 years, including as director of music, director of the largest bus ministry in Cleveland (more than 300 children each Sunday), associate pastor and pastor of Calvary Baptist Church during the late 70s and ’80s. He has seven years of service at Cleveland Cowboy Church.

The annual Women’s Ministry Luncheon at First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethorpe, 2445 LaFayette Road, is 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. June 2.
