› Healing Festival:

Collegedale Community Church, 9305 Four Corners Place, hosts this second annual event by violinist Jaime Jorge to raise funds for Healing Music Inc., which provides violin lessons for inner-city children in Chattanooga. › Heat relief: The Salvation Army is seeking donations to help low-income families battle the summer heat. Monetary gifts for box fans and utility bill assistance should be marked “Beat the Heat” and mailed to 822 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37403 or 437 Inman St., Cleveland, TN 37311. New boxed fans may be donated at either location as well. Monetary donations also are accepted online at www.csarmy.org or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY. The Chattanooga location offers a hydration station with free water at 800 McCallie Ave., between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. every day that the temperature exceeds 90 degrees. › World Changers:

Some 550 middle school and high school students from across America are in Chattanooga for another week to work on World Changers service projects, such as painting houses, putting on siding or constructing wheelchair ramps, to meet the needs of the community. World Changers is an initiative of the Southern Baptist Convention’s LifeWay Christian Resources based in Nashville. The students’ time in Chattanooga is part of a larger effort in 40 cities in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

› Free pancakes: St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 7514 Hixson Pike, will host a free pancake breakfast, with sausage, coffee and juices, 9-11:30 a.m. today (and remaining second Saturdays through October). Local vendors also will be set up at the St. Alban’s Farmers Market.

› Rhythms Retreats:
