› Benefit singing, supper: Trenton (Georgia) First Baptist Church, 11905 S. Main St., will host a gospel singing, hot-dog supper and auction 4-10 p.m. today to help pay medical expenses for Mike Avery, a Lookout Valley native who has lived in Trenton the past 28 years. › Art gallery debuts:
Second Presbyterian Church, 700 Pine St., will celebrate the grand opening of its Chapel Art Gallery on Sept. 2. › Zen Group’s new location: The Zen Group of Chattanooga meets 2-4 p.m. Sundays at a new location, 335 Crestway Drive (the Chattanooga Friends Meeting). The group offers zazen (Zen sitting meditation), kinhin (walking meditation) and newcomer instruction. No experience is necessary and no fee is required for attendance, although donations are welcome. The Sunday schedule offers three 25-minute periods of zazen, two five-minute periods of kinhin and book study of “Enlightenment Unfolds: Essential Teachings of Zen Master Dogen,” edited by Kazuaki Tanashi.
