The streak continues. Chattanooga Christian School ran all over visiting Christian Academy of Knoxville in a 24-3 win Friday night, bringing the Chargers’ record to 4-1 and their winning streak to four games.

Chattanooga Christian got on the board first with a 23-yard field goal by Erick Manirakiza. Running back Mondo Ellison stole the show in the second quarter with a 78-yard rushing touchdown to give the Chargers the 10-0 lead. The senior exited the game late in the second quarter with an injury but finished the first half with 123 yards on 11 attempts.

Despite the injury to their star running back, the Chargers’ rushing attack did not miss a beat. The home team had five players account for an additional 185 yards to bring the rushing total to 308.

“We had a bunch of guys step up, and it was the brightest part of the whole night,” CCS coach Mark Mariakis said. “It was a proud moment for the coaching staff to be able to throw guys who didn’t think they were going to play into the game and have them make big plays.”

One of those big plays came from running back Traveon Scott, who broke off a 66-yard touchdown run with 4:54 left in the game.

Running back Gavin Cagle led CAK’s Warriors (1-4). The sophomore collected 97 yards on 21 carries. Freshman quarterback Walker Strange completed four of 16 passes for 34 yards in the defeat.
