BEST OF THE REST

This weekend’s other top conference games (all times EDT)

-

NO. 1 ALABAMA (2-0) AT OLE MISS (2-0) When: 7 p.m. Saturday

Where: Oxford, Miss.

TV: ESPN

Quick take: The Rebels have been a thorn in Alabama’s side three of the last four seasons, winning back-to-back meetings in 2014 and 2015 and nearly pulling off an upset in 2016. The Tide had little trouble with Ole Miss during a 66-3 wallop last year, but the Rebs have put up eye-popping numbers through two games this season.

VANDERBILT (2-0) AT NO. 8 NOTRE DAME (2-0) When: 2:30 p.m.

Where: South Bend, Ind.

TV: NBC

Quick take: The Irish might have looked at this game as relief before the season, but the Commodores have proven they’ll be anything but a walkover after dominating performances over Middle Tennessee and Nevada to open the season. A win at Notre Dame could have Vanderbilt, and the rest of the SEC, believing in the Commodores. MISSOURI (2-0) AT PURDUE (0-2) When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: West LaFayette, Ind. TV: Big Ten Network

Quick take: So far this season, Missouri has proven its offense is still explosive while Purdue has had a couple forgettable losses. The contest would figure to favor the Tigers, but they have to be careful of not getting their eyes a week ahead with Georgia coming to town the following week.
