Fumbles doom Jackets in loss to Duke
ATLANTA — Duke turned three Georgia Tech fumbles into touchdowns in the final three minutes of the third quarter to beat the Yellow Jackets 28-14 Saturday.
Daniel Jones, whose 48-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Rahming with 1:49 in the third gave the Blue Devils (5-1, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) the lead for good, passed for 206 yards and three touchdowns. The other two were also in the third, a 1-yarder to Davis Koppenhaver with 15 seconds left and a 6-yarder to Johnathan Lloyd at quarter’s end.
Tech (3-4, 1-3) was held to 229 rushing yards, 144 below its nation-leading average.
Tech’s TaQuon Marshall threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Malachi Carter in the second quarter, and Jerry Howard’s 2-yard run midway through the fourth provided the Jackets’ other touchdown.
