Man dies after car strikes pole near I-75 ramp

-

A man died after his car crashed into a utility pole in Marietta on Sunday morning, police said.

The 25-year-old driver, who has not been identified, was traveling east on Delk Road near the entrance ramp to I-75 South, the Marietta Police Department said in a statement.

About 7:50 a.m., his 2017 Nissan Sentra left the road on the right side and struck a utility pole, officials said.

It is not known why the car left the road.

The man was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was the only person in the car.

The wreck is under investigation. It led officials to block the I-75 on-ramp Sunday morning, causing delays, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
