It’s time to remove trash from 2018
Well, it’s a new year and time to take out the 2018 trash. Interesting how trash accumulates when you allow it to. Here goes:
› Proportionality: Folks, it doesn’t matter if your party got 99 percent or 1 percent of the statewide vote. U.S. congressional and state legislative districts are not at large. Whether a liberal Democrat won a senatorial or governor race is irrelevant to the outcome of the political balance in a state legislature.
› Throwing rocks at U.S. border agents: Some people seem to think it’s hunky-dory to throw rocks at our U.S. border agents and the latter are just supposed to stand there. Get a grip! No one has a “right” to throw rocks, and tear gas is an appropriate response.
› Hollow head ammunition: Some ill-informed letter writer recently suggested the U.S. military uses hollow head instead of full jacket ammunition. Fact is that hollow head ammo is illegal in international warfare. Before spouting off, check your facts.
› Written vs living constitution: This should be easy. Who do you trust with your constitutional liberties? A justice who believes in a written Constitution or a Constitution in his own head?
