Food City opens its 2nd Dalton store today on Walnut West Avenue

Food City will open a second store in Dalton, Georgia, today when the grocery chain unveils its 48,600-square-foot supermarke­t on West Walnut Avenue.

The new store, which has been under constructi­on since April, includes a pharmacy, an in-store bakery and deli with a hot food bar, full-service meat and seafood department­s, a floral shop and an expanded grocery selection with gourmet, internatio­nal and specialty items. Rapid checkout service is provided by seven traditiona­l check-out lanes and four selfcheck-outs.

“The Dalton area residents have certainly been supportive of our company and we’re extremely excited to provide our loyal customers with a new, state-of-the-art Food City,” CEO Steve Smith said. “Our customers will find the same exceptiona­l customer service, top quality products and competitiv­e pricing they have come to expect from Food City, housed in a more energy efficient model, along with some exciting new features and convenienc­es.”

The new store will also offer the added convenienc­e of GoCart curbside pick-up. Customers can select their purchases online at foodcity.com and their order will be filled by a profession­al shopper and loaded into their vehicle when they arrive at the store. Payment can be made online or by credit or debit card at the time of pick-up.

The new Food City store in Dalton will open today with a grand opening ceremony at 8 a.m.

Food City, which is headquarte­red in Abingdon, Virginia, is owned by K-VA-T Food Stores and operates 130 retail outlets, including its other Food City store in Dalton on Cleveland Highway in the Northside Plaza.
