ACES WORKSHOP NEARING SELL-OUT
Management of WTCI, the Tennessee Valley’s PBS station, advises that the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) screening workshop is nearing a sell-out.
WTCI, Chattanooga 2.0 Early Matters Coalition and United Way of Greater Chattanooga are hosting the two-day screening workshop on Friday-Saturday, Jan. 25-26, at WTCI, 7540 Bonnyshire Drive. The event is designed to educate and inspire educators, service providers and caregivers through viewing the documentary “Building Strong Brains: ACEs, The Tennessee Story.”
“Building Strong Brains: ACEs, The Tennessee Story” was produced by WCTI in collaboration with agencies, organizations and other communities across the state. It was funded by a grant from the state of Tennessee as part of an initiative that deals with changing the conversation about early childhood trauma, its impact on the brain-building process and what communities can do to ensure success for every child.
Ron Harr, former CEO of the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce and host of WTCI’s “Explore Health” program, will address guests at the 6 p.m. Friday kickoff. Participants will discuss the content of the screenings and its impact on their work in the community in order to help Chattanooga grow as a traumainformed community.
Saturday’s workshop hours are 12:30-4:30 p.m.
Free parking will be available at WTCI, and snacks are sponsored by the Helen Ross McNabb Center, a nonprofit provider of behavioral health services in East Tennessee.
Sponsored by Unum, space at this free event is limited; reservations are available online at https://tinyurl.com/ ybt6tz4x.
