Bleu Fox Cheese Shop expanding

- STAFF REPORT

Bleu Fox Cheese Shop is moving to 324 E. Main St. The public is invited to celebrate the larger space at “Meet the Maker” on Saturday, April 20, 2019, from 12-4 p.m.

The event to mark the expanded store will feature vendors from Belle Chocolates, Sequatchie Cove Creamery, Olive Chattanooga, and more who will share samples, stories, and information about their businesses.

“We want to celebrate local food artisans, our neighbors, and our friends,” co-owner Jesse Watlington said, calling the Southside “a little European Village” ideally suited for its offerings. “It is thanks to their overwhelming support and patronage over the last 16 months that we are able to make this move.”

The new, larger space will feature a dining area and allow for more events in the shop, like the popular cheese and beer dinners hosted with local breweries, cheese and Girl Scout cookies, which supported a local Girl Scouts of America troop, and cheese roasting and poutine parties that attracted more than 100 people at each event.

Bleu Fox Cheese Shop specializes in artisan cheeses from around the globe. Customers can purchase individual cheeses, cheese and charcuterie boards, sandwiches, and gift cards. They can also shop an expansive selection of local artisan products including olives, pickled vegetables, crackers, and fruit spreads. With the larger space, they hope to add wine to their store this year.

Watlington participated in the American Cheese Society’s inaugural class. ACS certified cheese professionals are an elite group of nearly 900 individuals verified by the American Cheese Society who demonstrate high standards of comprehensive cheese knowledge, and skills that cover a broad range of subject areas.

“We are fortunate to have two ACS certified cheese Professionals behind our counter. We have over 65 years of experience in the specialty food industry,” Watlington added. “We know food, we love food, and we love sharing it with our friends and neighbors. That’s why we are here.”
