BASKETBALL

› Cleveland State sophomore Delaino Walker has committed to continue his basketball career at NCAA Division II member Tiffin University in Ohio. He averaged 15.9 points and 7.2 rebounds a game and was an All-TCCAA first-team selection this past season, and he was the most valuable player as the Cougars made a surprise run to the state-region tournament championship. “I’m happy Delaino is getting the opportunity to continue playing basketball at the next level,” Cougars coach Lee Cigliano said in a Cleveland State release. “More importantly, he will get to continue his education on a full scholarship. He did a great job for our program this year and deserves this opportunity. He will be missed here, but I’m very happy for him.”

SOFTBALL

› Lindsey Dunn’s two five-inning no-hitters last week earned the Bryan College junior right-hander the honor of softball pitcher of the week in the Appalachian Athletic Conference and by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association. Before her gems against Bluefield and Hiwassee, the Murray County graduate from Tennga, Georgia, allowed just seven hits in a 3-1 loss to nationally ranked Tennessee Wesleyan.
