-

Red Sox versus Yankees versus Dodgers?! Doesn’t matter who you’re rooting for, these recipes from Major League Baseball players will have you cheering— and eating well. They’re from the new cookbook The Game of Eating Smart: Nourishing Recipes for Peak Performance Inspired by MLB Superstars by Julie Loria with Allen Campbell, who was personal chef to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, so he knows what he’s talking about!

1 Cashew-Crusted Salmon Skewers

Matt Kemp, Cincinnati Reds outfielder (former Dodger) Why it’s a winner: salmon, nuts and seeds are a home-run combo of healthy protein and fats

Cut 8 oz skinned center-cut salmon fillets, pin bones removed, into 6 equal pieces. Combine ½ cup ground raw cashews, 2 Tbsp

raw white or black sesame seeds and ¼ tsp salt in a shallow, wide bowl. In another small bowl, whisk 1½ Tbsp water, 1 Tbsp

tahini and 2 tsp fresh lemon juice. Season with salt. Toss salmon in tahini mixture until evenly coated. Dredge salmon in nut mixture to coat evenly.

In a medium nonstick skillet, heat 1½ Tbsp coconut or olive oil over medium until hot but not smoking. Cook salmon 8 minutes or until golden brown on all sides, turning to cook evenly. Remove from pan; cool slightly. Gently skewer each salmon piece on a 4-inch bamboo skewer (so it resembles a lollipop). Sprinkle with 1 Tbsp sliced green onion (white and green parts). Drizzle with 1½ tsp sesame oil; serve with lemon wedges. Serves 2.

2 Green Monster Crunch

David Price, Boston Red Sox starting pitcher: ”Discovering that I enjoy eating healthy food was a big revelation.” Why it’s a winner: This nutty snack is great by the handful or sprinkled on yogurt, soup or smoothies. It contains chlorella, a form of algae (available at amazon.com or walmart.com) that’s packed with protein and antioxidants. Recipe: Parade.com/crunch

3 Cinnamon Almond Fig Bars

Giancarlo Stanton, New York Yankees outfielder: ”When I eat poorly, I feel the difference in my body when I wake up or do physical activity.” Why it’s a winner: These sweet bars offer a quick, satisfying energy boost on the go. Recipe: Parade.com/fig
