Doreen Lewis
CROSSVILLE — Doreen “Dee” Mays Lewis, died Saturday, April 20, 2019. She was 75.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Dee was born in New Jersey, but later lived in Florida, Arizona and Tennessee. She worked as a stained-glass artist for over 30 years. Her beautiful artwork is displayed in churches, hospitals, and private homes statewide. Designing, creating and giving her personalized art to those she cared for gave her joy.
Dee was also a resident artist for many Tennessee public schools where she helped students create stained glass mosaics windows.
For the past 10 years, Dee served as a Director and Trustee for the Patti Lewis Home Care in Howell, Michigan where her support ensured elderly residents experienced moments of joy and love throughout their days.
She was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church choir.
Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary De Lima; and her late husband, Bill Mays.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by her loving husband, Jack Lewis; daughter, Shelley (Ken) Young, of Franklin; sons, John Mays, of Knoxville and Rick (Michelle) Mays, of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and Mr. Lewis’ children; Michael, Kathy, Steve and Scott and seven grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Crossville, Tenn., with Father Jim Harvey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Alphonsus Community Services, 151 St. Alphonsus Way, Crossville, TN 38555.
