Trident Transport has announced plans to expand its Chattanooga location into the former Freightwaves space on Chestnut Street and add 75-100 jobs between its Chattanooga and Tampa locations.

The freight broker and logistics provider’s current space at 4457 and 1428 Chestnut St. downtown will house the sales office and future employees while the new space directly across Main Street will be the new corporate office. The new location also will have a company gym with fitness classes and a nutrition bar “to encourage health and wellness among Trident employees,” according to the company.

“The success and growth of this company is completely because of our people,” said Carter Garrett, vice president of Trident Transport. “We’re known as one of the best places to work in Chattanooga, and we actively strive to keep that reputation simply by taking care of our employees. We’re excited for this continual growth and we’re prepared to keep that trend going.”

Trident Transport also announced it will open multiple satellite branches — two per year — throughout the U.S. The company currently has more than 70 employees.

Freightwaves recently moved out of their space at 1500 Chestnut St. and into the former World of Beer location at 412 Market St., as part of its plans to hire up to 260 employees.

A Trident Transport spokesperson said the new office space is approximately 8,000 square feet and the company’s current space

is around 12,000 square feet. She did not say the estimated cost of the total expansion.

In 2018, Inc. magazine included Trident Transport on its list of 5,000 fastest growing companies in America. Trident Transport was the fastest growing local company of the nine listed from Chattanooga — more than half of which are tied to trucking and logistics.

Health Haley and Mark Harrell started Trident Transport in 2013 as a third-party logistics company that works to build relationships with its partners, eliminate supply chain problems and offer solutions to meet demands of their customers.
