The man accused of a rape in the Oak Grove area of Chattanooga picked the victim up at a bus stop, Hamilton County court records show.

The woman told police she was on her way to work just before 6:30 a.m. on Monday when Tremaine Anderson drove by and stopped at the traffic light at Orchard Knob Avenue and Main Street, court records state.

She said he told her, “Come on, I’ll give you a ride.”

After driving for a while, Anderson turned into an alley behind a business in the 1000 block of East Main Street, pulled out a silver handgun and demanded oral sex, court records show.

Afterward, Anderson told her to get out of his car, according to court records.

She got out of the vehicle and started walking toward her work when she saw police and flagged them down.

The woman told police she saw a hard hat and green rubber gloves in the vehicle, “like the ones from the chicken plant.”

Police went to Koch Foods and found a vehicle matching the woman’s description, and after speaking with employees they learned Anderson’s name, court records state.

Investigators then provided the woman with a photo lineup of men with similar characteristics, and she “immediately picked out Mr. Anderson.”

“[The woman] became very emotional as she picked out the suspect,” investigators wrote in the criminal affidavit.

Anderson is charged with aggravated rape and aggravated kidnapping.

He remains in custody at the Hamilton County Jail, according to online jail records. His bond has been set at a total of $300,000.

Anderson is also a suspect in the April 23 shooting of a woman on East 23rd Street, but charges have not been filed in that case.

Chattanooga police ask anyone who may have been victimized by Anderson to call 423-698-2525 and ask to speak with a Special Victims Unit investigator to file a report.
