Snow Hill principal to take over at Central High

- STAFF REPORT

Snow Hill Elementary Principal Phil Iannarone will be taking over as principal at Central High School this fall.

Central’s longtime principal Finley King retired in April to take a job with Delta Airlines, according to Hamilton County Schools.

King had been principal of the school since 2008, served as assistant principal before taking the helm of the school and even graduated from Central himself.

Iannarone became principal at Snow Hill in 2017, but he also started his career at Central High in 2004.

Before taking the helm at Snow Hill, Iannarone served as principal at Spring Creek Elementary from 2014 to 2017. He also worked as an assistant principal at East Lake Academy and Hunter Middle School.

As principal at Snow Hill this year, Iannarone helped guide the school during its construction period to expand, part of the district’s $ 110 million capital projects funded by the Hamilton County Commission in 2017.

Snow Hill has also been preparing for redistricting of its attendance zones alongside Ooltewah Elementary as the school expands and increases capacity.

Originally from Long Island, New York, and affectionately known as “Mr. I” to teachers, parents, and students, Iannarone came to the area to attend Lee University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education. He has a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a specialist’s degree from Lee University, according to a news release.

He served as a consultant for Christian schools in the Southeast and participated in the Public Education Fund’s Leadership Fellows Cohort 7 and Principal Leadership Academy Cohort 3.
