Dundees, doggies and the music of Woodstock

- LISA DENTON / BARRY COURTER

LISA DENTON: Barry, you and I channel a lot of “The Office” here at work, but for the past few weeks The Camp House has been hosting an Office Trivia Tournament, covering all nine seasons of the NBC sitcom. Yes, it’s a local version of the Dundees, and tonight is the finals. This is huge.

BARRY COURTER: That’s what she said.

I’m pretty sure we could do this all day long, and we could probably throw in some of our own real-life “Office” moments. That’s all I’ll say about that.

LISA: You’re probably safe. I don’t think the person responsible for most of our “Jim looking at the camera” moments has enough self-awareness to know who we’re talking about.

BARRY: No doubt about that. I know who I would pick as my Office Trivia Tournament teammate: Billie Eilish. Both because I think the 17-year-old singing superstar is terrific and because she is fanatical about the show, even impressing Dwight Schrute (actor Rainn Wilson) himself. You can watch it at uproxx. com/music/billie-eilish-of fice-quiz-rainn-wilson. (Note: some adult language.)

LISA: Great that it was Dwight — bears, beets, “Battlestar Galactica.”

BARRY: The Bobby Stone Film Festival at the Tivoli has two more classics this weekend. I love a good Jack Lemmon movie and “The Apartment,” being shown Saturday, is a good one. It also stars Shirley MacLaine and Fred MacMurray. And “Yo, HOLD UP!,” one of Spike Lee’s best joints, as he dubs his films, “Do the Right Thing,” is Sunday.

LISA: East Tennessee Dachshund Rescue will be holding races and other contests, like fastest nose and doggie talent, Saturday at Chester Frost Park. You know what they say about these races — there are no losers, only wieners.

And speaking of dogs, there’s a Bark-B-Q boat ride aboard the Southern Belle on Sunday. This fundraiser benefits the Humane Educational Society.

BARRY: Songbirds has a couple of cool local shows this week, as well. There is a benefit show for Mike McDade on Thursday to help him with some medical bills, and the lineup features some local greats including a Rounders reunion, The Bohannons, Lew Card, Butch Ross, The Scarlet Love Conspiracy, Ryan Oyer and more. That’s pretty strong. On Saturday, Songbirds will hold a Woodstock 50th anniversary celebration with The Pool, Oweda, Jess Goggans Band, Paul Childers and others doing their best re-creations of bands who played the iconic festival. Folks are encouraged to dress up in their best hippie gear, though if you’ve seen the photos from the event, I’d say mud is your best costume. I kid. Sort of.

LISA: And tonight is the peak for the Perseid meteor shower. It’s supposed to be cloudy with an almost full moon, but if there’s a break in the clouds and you look opposite the moon, you might see a few. I remember one year when the whole sky was busy with them, including one that wasn’t just a quick blip but a spectacular fireball that streaked across the whole horizon. It’s unusual to see one like that.

BARRY: That’s what she said.
