Christmas prep
› Angel Trees: The Salvation Army will begin registration for its Christmas outreach programs for low-income seniors 60 and older on Monday and for children 12 or younger from families at or below the poverty line on Tuesday. Qualified participants may register for clothing, toys and other items. Registration continues weekdays through Nov. 1, but you must have an appointment. Volunteers also are needed as bell ringers and to man the Angel Tree tables.

Chattanooga Bach Choir: Cantata series opens with J.S. Bach’s “Herr Christ, Der Einge Gottesohn (Lord Christ, the Only Son of God)” at 5 p.m. Sunday at Christ Church Episcopal, 663 Douglas St. Selections for the season’s four concerts are chosen especially for the Sunday they fall in the liturgical calendar. › The Compassion Experience: Rock Bridge Community Church, 905 Curtis Parkway SE, Calhoun, Ga., will host this Compassion International event on the realities of life in poverty through Sunday. Visitors take a self-guided journey through a 2,000-square-foot exhibit space depicting homes, markets and schools to show the daily lives of children in developing countries.
