CHICKAMAUG­A - Verlie Lou Parrish Geurin, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 11, 2020.

She was the daughter of Roy E. Parrish, Sr. and Elizabeth Mae Autry Parrish and was the oldest of their 4 children.

She was preceded in death by her parents and Brother, John Thomas “JT” Parrish and sister, Virginia Jo Parrish Ford as well as her husband, of over 50 years, William Luther “Bill” Geurin, an infant daughter, Celeste Lynelle Geurin.

She is survived by a brother, Roy E. Parrish, Jr. and his wife, Cora Ann Parrish; her daughter, Tammy Geurin Snodgrass and her husband, David Allen Snodgrass and a granddaugh­ter, Sharon Ann Snodgrass, all of Chickamaug­a; and several nieces and nephews.

Verlie was employed by the Crystal Springs Printworks, in Chickamaug­a from the late 1930’s-40’s as a spinner. After her marriage to Bill, she began working in the First Baptist Church in Chickamaug­a as a youth choir helper and piano player (when needed) and later as a faithful member of the adult choir for many years. She also taught Sunday School and was a Girl Scout Leader. Verlie substitute­d in the lunch room at Chickamaug­a Elementary School and also helped with a deaf class at the high school. She enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends and tried to help everyone that she could.

There will be no visitation and a simple graveside service for immediate family members at the Chickamaug­a City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the First Baptist Church Chancel Choir fund or simply made to the church itself.
