Greg O’Haver

-

Gregory Lynn O’Haver of Soddy-Daisy, TN passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family on August 29, 2020, following a thirteen-year battle with prostate cancer. He was 60 years old.

Greg graduated Red Bank High School in 1977. He then signed with Chattanooga State Community College as a dual sport athlete in baseball and basketball. He graduated in 1979 with an Associate’s Degree in Mathematics. He went on to play scholarship baseball with Tennessee Tech University, before serving 6 years with the Tennessee Air National Guard’s 241st Engineering and Installation Squadron.

Following his service, Greg began a career with the municipal utility, Electric Power Board, as an engineering technician in 1992. With unflappable charm and determination, he rose to prominence as the Vice President of Customer Relations in 2000, before deciding he preferred to be his own boss.

Greg spent the last 16 years of his life doing things his own way with O’Haver Technical Services; an electrical services company, specializing in high-voltage diagnostics of industrial and municipal electrical sites. He cultivated a list of clients across the southeastern US, who affectionally referred to him as “The Meter Man”, in recognition of his decades of industry knowledge and experience. Greg found his passion with these clients and truly treasured the relationships he was able to cultivate, while running his own business.

An avid outdoorsman, Greg could frequently be found landscaping, building, or otherwise renovating whatever was around him. Despite being an electrician by trade, he never hesitated to pick up new skills, from carpentry to plumbing, whenever the project required it. During breaks from is role as the comsummate handy-man; Greg loved to sneak away and hit the links at every golf course in the area. Such was his love of golf; he maintained a 7-year tradition of traveling to see the annual Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, GA before failing health rendered him unable to walk the course.
