LET’S PUT MARQUITA BRADSHAW IN THE U.S. SENATE

-

In the race to fill the seat of retiring U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander, Tennessee has two choices:

The Donald Trump-endorsed Bill Hagerty. Or Pete Buttigieg-endorsed AND Bernie Sanders-endorsed Marquita Bradshaw.

That says it all. No one in their right mind should want to vote for anyone Donald Trump embraces — even if that person also was the Tennessee Economic and Development chief for a time and later Trump’s U. S. ambassador to Japan.

Bradshaw is a Memphis environmentalist and activist, and that says a lot, too.

She rightly points out that our environment is directly connected to the economy and every other issue we can name — health, housing, infrastructure, jobs, even education. “We cannot talk about the environment without talking about other policies,” she told us Friday.

Buttigieg calls her a “forward-thinking” leader offering bold ideas that will change the course of our politics.

Sanders said, “She believes, like I do, that in the richest country in the history of the world, all of our people deserve a decent standard of living. Marquita is building a strong grassroots movement by standing up to big-money politics and challenging the status quo.”

Bradshaw already is the first Black woman to be nominated by a major Tennessee party in a statewide race. Let’s make her the first winning Black woman nominated by a major Tennessee party in a statewide race.
