Put full force of law on Trump, insurgents

-

Sedition is defined as insurrection against lawful authority. Treason is the crime of betraying one’s country.

On Jan. 6 then-President Trump lit the fuse on riots threatening the lives of Vice President Mike Pence, Nancy Pelosi and other members of Congress. Five people died, including the murder of a police officer, and there was much destruction to the building.

While all this was happening, Trump was watching as the mob tried to get to Pence to lynch him. He saw all this and did nothing.

What was such a disaster was also absurd. There was nothing Pence could have done. Congress was meeting in a pro forma session with no ability to change the outcome of the election.

However the statutes read, Trump and insurgents must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the laws.

We must pray that there will never again be in our country such a crime against humanity as occurred with refugee children snatched from their mother’s arms, with no assurance of reunion.

Before our time with Trump, if an unfortunate Marjorie T. Greenetype racist emerged with conspiracy concepts wanting political enemies killed, that one would have been thrown out of the House.
