Greek bake sale returns for spring
It’s time to log on, lock in and load up on delicious Greek specialties for a sweet and/or savory addition to your Easter or Mother’s Day meals — or whenever you want the crunch of baklava or a creamy bite of spanakopita.
The winter Greek bake sale, sponsored by the Ladies Philoptochus Society of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, was a big success — much better than expected, considering it was the first time to hold the sale virtually. And actually, says bake sale chairwoman Thea Ballas, customers preferred it that way.
“When they arrived at the hall, we would go inside and get their order together,” she says. “Then they’d pop their car trunks open, and we placed their orders inside, and they were off!”
The same method will be followed for the spring sale.
All of the items are ordered in advance, but just as in the previous sale, any items that go unclaimed will be listed on a board outside the church hall and can be ordered upon arrival.
“This works out well just in case people have forgotten to order something or want extra,” Ballas adds.
On the menu for the spring sale will be:

› Chocolate kok Orders will be picked up April 1-2 at a designated time you will receive when your order is placed. The church is located at 722 Glenwood Ave. across from Memorial Hospital.
