Retail sales snapshot

A measure of sales at U.S. chain stores open at least a year should provide insight into the health of the retail sector.

Johnson Redbook Service issues its weekly retail sales snapshot today. The report covers same-store sales data reported by about 70 general merchandise and apparel retailers. That’s a key indicator of retailer performance, because it measures growth at existing stores rather than newly opened ones.
