ROCK SPRING - Jean Helen Ransom, 91, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 6, 2021.

Jean was born in Massena, New York on September 11, 1929 a daughter of the late Duane Clement and Helen Harriett Rafter Kingsley. She moved with her family from Massena, NY to Chattanoog­a Valley in 1941. She graduated from Chattanoog­a Valley High School. She was married on April 23, 1948 to John B. Ransom. Mrs. Ransom was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chickamaug­a. Jean was very loved by her friends and family. She was a homemaker who loved to provide a good home for her family. She was known for her kindness and friendship to others. After becoming a grandmothe­r, she became “Nanny” to all.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, John B. Ransom, son John (Johnny) Ransom, brothers Adair, Willis, and Ronnie Kingsley.

Jean is survived by her children Jerry Wayne (Pam) Ransom of Chattanoog­a and daughter Judy Ann (Perry) Hubbard of Gainesvill­e, FL. She is also survived by her grandchild­ren Melissa (Jon) Ransom Campbell, Jeremy (Amanda) Ransom, Jason Ransom, Wesley Ransom, and David Ransom Hubbard as well as her great grandchild­ren Mallory Jones, Meredith Jones, Luke Campbell, and Adley Ransom. Her surviving siblings are Ray Kingsley, Ira Kingsley, Faye Kingsley Bruning, Joann Kingsley Santa Maria, Ruth Kingsley Wells, and Johnny Kingsley.

A graveside service will be held 11 AM Friday at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with Rev. Michael Savadge officiatin­g.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributi­ons be made to First Baptist Church of Chickamaug­a 603 7th Street Chickamaug­a, GA 30707.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
