Edwin Gannon Jr.

-

Edwin “Eddie” Wendell Gannon, Jr., 66, of Chattanooga passed away Saturday, May 1, at a local hospital.

Eddie was born February 25, 1955, to the late Edwin Wendell Gannon, Sr. and Dorothy Ann Sharber Gannon in Barfield, TN.

Eddie went to UTC to pursue a degree in architecture after high school. During this time, he decided to join his family, to build what is now Gannon Art Center, a thriving custom picture framing business, and art gallery, which has been in business in Chattanooga, for over 50 years. Although he considered Gannon Art Center to be one of his greatest accomplishments, he was a master of telling stories and jokes. He was a good husband, as well as a passionate and loving father, brother and grandfather. He cherished his grandsons. He had many special friends who he loved and were a very special part of his life. Eddie brought joy and laughter wherever he was. He accomplished many things throughout his life, but his business, family, and friends, by far, were the ones that matter the most.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Elaine Peters-Gannon; his children, Edwin “Wyn” Gannon, III (Olivia) and Cureton Gannon; his siblings, Cheryl Gannon (Chuck Bialeschki), Melissa Gannon (Bill Henninger) and Rick (Dawn) Gannon, and his grandchildren, Asa Wendell Gannon and Pierce Edwin Gannon; and several aunts, nieces and nephews, who he also loved and adored.
