Edward Lankester Darr Jr passed away on June 2, 2021.

He was born December 26, 1944, to the late Edward L. Darr and Nancy R. Darr. “Eddie” attended Chattanoog­a High School and graduated with a BS in Business Administra­tion from University of Chattanoog­a, where he participat­ed in the ROTC program.

He joined the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant and served in the 101st Airborne Division (the “Screaming Eagles”) as a forward observer in the Vietnam War. He was recognized during his tour with a Purple Heart, the Army Commendati­on Medal, the Parachute Badge and the Bronze Star. Upon his return, Eddie joined the National Forest Service in New Mexico and then Darr’s Hardware, the family business in Chattanoog­a. Later he operated his own business, Darr’s Shooting Supply. Eddie will be remembered for his wealth of informatio­n of the Civil War and World War II and their leaders, weaponry and associated stories as well as his love of fishing and the outof-doors. Eddie lived life on his own terms - “You betcha.”

Eddie was predecease­d by nephews, Frank Mix Robbins, IV, and Justin Graham Knysh.

He is survived by his sister Eloise Darr Robbins and her family including husband Frank “Mickey” Robbins and their children, Winston Spencer Robbins and Edward Darr Robbins, as well as his sister, Leslie Darr Knysh, and her children, Zachary Andrue Knysh and his “favorite niece,” Crystal Eloise Leilani Knysh.

Eddie will be honored at a time to be announced with a Memorial Service at the Chattanoog­a National Cemetery. Donations in Eddie’s memory may be made to McCoy Farm and Gardens, PO Box 443, Signal Mountain Tn 37377, or your favorite charity.
