Three theater productions, a haunted house workshop and a pub crawl are among the weekend entertainment options. Here’s a look.
› Chattanooga Lookouts, a Minor League Baseball affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, have begun a sixgame home series against the Tennessee Smokies at AT&T Field, 201 Power Alley. Weather permitting, remaining games start 7:15 p.m. Thursday (with drink specials), 7:15 p.m. Friday (with fireworks), 7:15 p.m. Saturday (with a used car giveaway) and 2:15 p.m. Sunday (when kids can run the bases after the game). › Arts Avenue, 1800A Rossville Ave., will welcome Kevn Kinney, lead singer and guitarist of Atlanta rock band Drivin N Cryin, in a solo show on Thursday night and That ’90s Show, playing rock and pop hits of the 1990s, on Saturday night. › “Black Widow”: The debut of Marvel Studios’ new superhero film, starring Scarlett Johansson, includes a limited run at the Tennessee Aquarium’s Imax Theater, 201 Chestnut St. Screenings at 6:30 and 9:15 p.m. daily through July 17, plus 3:45 p.m. screenings during this opening weekend, Friday and Saturday. › Nightfall on Friday features a co-bill by two winners of Road to Nightfall, a competition for local bands to earn the right to headline the free summer concert series. Four-piece rock fusion band We Are Us, who won the 2020 competition but could only play a digital show because of the pandemic, will do a onehour set at 7 p.m. The 2021 winners, Fantastic Confabulation, will follow with a performance at 8:20 p.m. This high-energy, five-piece band specializes in soul, funk, jazz, R&B and Latin music. Shows take place at Miller Plaza, 850 Market St. Food trucks, artisan vendors and lawn games are set up at Miller Park across M.L. King Boulevard. › The Comedy Catch, 29 Station St., will welcome Dylan Vattelana for shows at 7:30 and 9:45 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $16-$18. Based on audience polling, the venue is expanding capacity at these shows, which means that patrons may be sharing tables with people they don’t know. › The Colonnade Players will present “Disney Descendants: The Musical” over the next two weekends, July 9-18, at the Colonnade, 264 Catoosa Circle, Ringgold, Georgia. The show introduces the offspring of Disney heroes to the children of their parents’ sworn enemies. Shows start at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. Sundays. › Signal Mountain Playhouse, 305 Rolling Way, will present its summer production, “Bye Bye Birdie,” the next four weekends, July 9-31. Set in the 1960s, the musical follows the hyped-up farewell that rock icon Conrad Birdie will give to his fans before he reports for duty in the Army. Showtime is at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
