Vaccines make virus death preventable

-

Researchers at Yale found the U.S. vaccination program against COVID19 may have saved 279,000 lives so far. But Tennessee Republican politicians just arranged for the governor to fire Dr. Michelle Fiscus, the doctor in charge of the state vaccination program.

Last week, the CDC announced: “The United States is fortunate to have highly effective vaccines that are widely available for those aged 12 and up. People who are fully vaccinated are protected from severe disease and death, including from the variants currently circulating in the country such as Delta. People who are not vaccinated remain at risk. Virtually all COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths are among those who are unvaccinated. We encourage Americans who have not yet been vaccinated to get vaccinated as soon as possible to protect themselves and their community.”

According to the CDC, COVID-19 is presently the leading cause of death in the United States, at approximately 246 deaths per 100,000 persons. Heart disease is the #2 killer, at about 165 deaths per 100,000 persons. Death from COVID-19 is preventable if one is fully vaccinated.

Politicians who discourage vaccinations are doing unforgivable damage to our public health.
