Sole finalist named for county administra­tor

Whitfield County, Georgia, commission­ers have named an attorney from Wisconsin as the sole finalist for the county administra­tor position, a news release states.

Robert Sivick’s appointmen­t is expected at a special called meeting Sept. 20, according to county communicat­ions director Mitch Talley.

“We’re excited to have a person with such a wide range of city and county government experience join us as administra­tor,” commission Chairman Jevin Jensen said in the release. “This role is pivotal to achieving our team’s strategic objectives, and we are confident in Bob’s leadership ability.”

Sivick earned his law degree from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Neb., and a bachelor of arts degree in history from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnston, Pa. For four years he has been county administra­tor in Waushara County, Wisc.

His earlier experience includes city and county roles in human resources, as a city attorney and a county manager. He practiced private law in Omaha from 1988 to 2007.

Sivick will replace Mark Gibson, who accepted the position of chief operations officer for Whitfield County Schools in July. County engineer Kent Benson has been serving as interim administra­tor while continuing his job as county engineer. Benson did not apply for the administra­tor position.
