ST. PAUL, Minn. — Sam Taylor Roberts, or Sammy to his family, 24, lost a prolonged battle with drug addiction on Friday, Sept. 3, 2021.

Sam was born Feb. 13, 1997, in Atlanta, Ga. He attended The Atlanta Speech School and Woodward Academy where he was known and loved by teachers, friends and family for his unique “Sammy” sense of humor and laid back, creative style.

Sam loved the outdoors. He spent 10 summers at Lake Glenville, N.C., fishing, swimming, hiking and wakeboardi­ng. He played high school lacrosse for Woodward Academy. He was a boy scout and went on to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. Sam was creative. He loved making things with his hands. He was an avid photograph­er. He loved music and was a voracious reader.

Sam was always up for an adventure and especially loved road trips. He made friends everywhere he went and kept up with his friends on a regular basis. He most recently lived in St. Paul, Minn., where he met his longtime girlfriend Abby Dodd.

He is survived by his parents, Don and Kathryn Roberts; his brother, Will; his grandparen­ts, Mary Roberts, Jack Peay (Catherine), Susan Smartt (Eddy Register); his aunts and uncles, Connie

Warner (Randy), Cathy Rohde (JR), Laura Mallard (Lynwood), Taylor Millichap, and Liza Joseph (Shaw); his cousins, Jack Warner, Hank Warner (Frances), Abbey Woodruff (Matt), Ashley Tucker (Alex), Kate and Jack Mallard, Maddie, McCall and Charlie Millichap, and Ellie and Louise Joseph.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service which will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at the Cathedral of St. Philip. Reception immediatel­y following the service in Child Hall.
